Head of PKU

DR. MUHAMMAD SYAFIQ BIN ABDULLAH

About PKU

The Pusat Kesihatan UMS (PKU) was initially known as the Community Treatment Centre (PRW), which was started in May 2004 under the management of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FPSK). In 2010, PRW was placed under the governance of Jabatan Hal Ehwal Pelajar (HEP) before being returned back to the FPSK in 2016. In 2018, the name was  changed to PKU when the centre was subsequently placed under the management of Hospital UMS. At the same time, other UMS healthcare facilities which were operated to cater for the  university’s community health welfare, were placed under PKU.

In the early days, the PRW provides basic primary care and emergency treatment to the student before being referred to hospital for further action. However, currently the PKU, under the management of Hospital UMS, offers a range of healthcare services, including primary care treatment delivered by trained medical professionals to the whole university’s community. Medical and Dental services are provided to safeguard the health and happiness of students  while studying in UMS.

Acting as the main branch of PKU, the PRW aims to provide the best and safe healthcare services for the staff and students of UMS. Other branches are Poliklinik UMS, Pusat Dialisis UMS-YKN, Klinik Rawatan Warga UMSKAL, Klinik Rawatan Warga Pertanian Lestari FPL Sandakan, and Klinik Komuniti PPPD Sikuati Kudat.
