The Central Sterilization Service Unit (CSSU) is an integrated service in the hospital that carries out sterilization and other actions on medical devices, equipment, and consumables. This unit ensures the safe management of decontamination services in healthcare through a safe, efficient, effective and reliable system. CSSU has its importance in the prevention of cross-infection and the reduction of HAIs (Hospital acquired infections) which can be traced to the use of instruments in patient care. It provides a supply of sterile medical or surgical equipment to all departments. Instruments are cleaned, prepared, sterilized, stored and supplied for clinical procedures used on patients.
